Welcome Friends

Summer Isles Festival Returns to Coigach!

We are so excited to welcome you all back for our festival of music and dance in our beautiful corner of Scotland.

Summer Isles Festival is a non-profit, community interest company (CIC no. SC864356). Our purpose is to facilitate brilliant music and joyful dancing for our local community… and beyond! Over the next few years expect some of the best musicians Scotland has to offer, in our fantastic, great sounding venue - Coigach Community Hall.

The Summer Isles are a beautiful archipelago off the coast of the Coigach Peninsula, in the far north-west coast of Scotland. You can check it out on the map over here. Coigach (and her many townships, including Achiltibuie) is home to around 200 folk and is a more than worthy detour off the famous NC 500. And now the Summer Isles Festival is back from its 6 year hiatus, there’s all the more reason to visit this very special, very beautiful and interesting part of the country.

What’s the Craic?

Kick off your festival season with a weekend in Achiltibuie!

Buy tickets for our huge night of tunes with some of Scotland’s leading musicians on Saturday 1st of May 2027! Woo! Tickets are £45 and are on sale now!

Also, why not come up a night early and join in with the free Friday night session? More info soon...

To make it easy for you to dance the night away, we’re running a small campsite for the night, so check out the info in our camping section.

Tickets are £45
Camping is £15

Camping

  • Camping costs £15 for the night

  • The campsite opens at midday on the 1st of May 2027 and closes at midday the following day. Anyone camping on our site on any other day/time will be gently but firmly moved on, as it is private land

  • Camping is for over 16s only. Click here for local accommodation if you want to bring under 16s

  • Our campsite is Zero Waste and operates a cash only £5 deposit scheme. You need to bring a fiver with you which you swap with our camping marshal for a rubbish bag. Pick up all your rubbish before you leave, then show the marshal a photo of your cleared campsite at the end to get your fiver back. Easy!

  • Our campsite is located a couple of minutes walk from the venue, on our community playing field. We are so lucky to be able to use this space to make accommodation more accessible. The view is ridiculous too!

  • Low Impact - we want to leave our lovely playing field in a better condition than we found it. We’re going to reseed it with grass where needed after everyone’s gone home and make a meaningful donation towards its ongoing upkeep.

  • Low Noise - it’s for sleeping and quiet chat only. No amplified music is permitted on site. If you’re making a racket while other folks are trying to sleep, you’ll be asked to stop.

  • Tents - our campsite is for tents only - no campers, caravans or hard sided structures are permitted on site.

  • Bins will be provided for recycling. Please take all other litter away with you as we do not have the resources to dispose of regular waste in large quantities (see £5 Zero Waste deposit scheme above)

  • BBQ’s / open fires of any kind are not permitted on site. The wider landscape a fragile and often highly inflammable. We’ve had terrible fires recently that have burned entire mountains caused by sparks from abandoned BBQ’s. In all cases, take your litter home.

  • Portaloos - there will be portaloos up at the campsite and you will have access to the toilets in the hall during festival hours.

  • Showers - Coigach Hall has two showers that can be used for a small fee. We can’t allow queues to form within the hall - as there are only two showers please be brief.

  • Site accessibility - the campsite is up a short, but steep hill so please be mindful of this prior to booking your spot. The festival venue itself is on the ground floor and is fully accessible.

  • Guide Dogs - are welcome. Please contact us beforehand to make sure we know your support animal is coming with you.

Routes

The festival is a long way from everywhere (it’s why we love it here!). We are just north of Ullapool and although the roads can be busy at this time of year, it’s hard to get lost. The last stretch of road through Coigach to Achiltibuie is a single track with passing places. It takes about 1 hour from Ullapool to drive. For sure it’ll take longer than your sat nav tells you, but it’s stunningly beautiful, so worth taking your time.

There will be signposting between Ullapool and Achiltibuie to keep you right. Once you’re in Achiltibuie, the festival venue and camping will be clearly signposted. Our marshals will show you the way to your parking /camping / venue.

Please note that parking is very limited in and around our campsite / festival site and will be allotted on a first come first served basis. Please consider car sharing where possible to avoid congestion and daft parking!

Public Transport

There are buses from Inverness to Ullapool (download timetable), which takes about an hour and 20 minutes. It’s a bit trickier getting from Ullapool to Achiltibuie, so some forward planning on your part is required. If there’s enough interest in a festival shuttle bus between Achiltibuie and Ullapool on Saturday, we may be able to facilitate this. Please email us directly or let us know when you buy your ticket if this is something you’d be interested in.

Regardless of your mode of transport, your Highland journey will almost certainly route through Inverness. Inverness has a main line train station with connection to every major stop down the country to London. It also has an airport about 8 miles out of town, with easy connections by bus/train/taxi to the city centre.

From Ullapool to Achiltibuie -

This is the trickier leg of your journey. Monday to Friday there is a school bus from Ullapool to Achiltibuie.

Hitching is common up here, so if you miss the bus, you may have some luck. Obviously, we are not suggesting you do this and are not responsible for any part of your journey.

If you are planning to get to the festival by public transport, let us know when you buy your ticket, or by sending us an email in advance. In all cases it is 100% your responsibility to make arrangements for travel to and from the festival. We really don’t want to leave you stranded, but if you miss your bus, no one is going to come and get you. Ok? ok.

Parking

We’re committed to reducing the impact of the festival on our small village and fragile surrounding wilderness. Where possible we ask our festival humans to tread lightly and lift share.

We will have a parking marshal for those checking in to the campsite. They will help utilise the space as best as we can, but please note, parking spaces will be allotted on a first come first served basis as festival goers arrive.

A note for locals and folk not staying in our campsite - please be mindful - parking round the hall may be more limited than usual.

As we’re a very tiny festival, if you want to find a lift share, get in touch using our contact form and we’ll try to connect you up with others looking to do the same. We’ll do our best, but can’t promise it’ll work out, so you should make a strong plan B just in case.

If you’re a person with a disability, we have parking reserved for you. Contact us to book your space.

Sponsors, Partners and Funding

Summer Isles Festival is registered as a Community Interest Company. Any money left after everything has been paid for, goes back into the festival and into our community. We have an “asset lock”, which means if the festival ends for any reason and there is money left in the bank, it transfers directly to our community hall. We are also audited annually by the community interest company regulator to make sure we are still fulfilling our purpose and commitment to our community.
